Sims lets chance slip
After an impressive first three rounds, Bermudian touring pro Michael Sims saved his worst for last in the Nationwide Tour Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open at the Crestview Country Club on Sunday.
Having fired two sub-par rounds (68 and 69) on Thursday and Friday to make his third cut in his last four tournaments, he followed up with another solid two-under par 69 on Saturday to hold down 36th place and put himself in position to earn a healthy cheque after Sunday's final round.
But it all went horribly wrong on the par-71, 6,886-yard lay-out as Sims struggled to a four-over 75 to plummet down the leaderboard and finish on 281 and in 65th place among the 70 players who made the cut.
He started the event in 104th position on the Tour's money standings and is unlikely to improve on that following Sunday's disappointing finish.
