Prospect Primary choir will perform at Disney World next week

The Prospect Primary School Show choir is leaving for Disney World this Monday for a five-day trip to perform and record at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

The children have been practicing each week for two to three hours in preparation for the performance abroad and are making vast progress creating a show that includes Motown, Disney and Gospel tunes.

They have put together a 20-minute set consisting of material filled with singing, moving and dancing.

The show choir's director Lindsey Berthiaume said: "Audiences that have seen the set have been entertained and amazed at what the children have done in such a short time.

"They have been fundraising by packing groceries, having bake sales, dollar sheets, a gospel concert.

"They have also had many generous donors including the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, some of the Island's churches and companies.

"Some students have been having individual bake sales at Bull's Head Car Park and in their own neighbourhoods to raise funds for their trip."

In preparation for their trip, the students were visited by three US customs officers yesterday to learn how to fill out their customs forms and be briefed on customs procedures.

"This will be valuable and interesting information to learn particularly for six of the students who will be flying for the first time.

"The students and parents have been working very hard to make this incredible learning experience happen.

"This trip will change the lives of some of these students forever," said Mrs. Berthiaume.

The students will be leaving Monday on the 8.30 a.m. American Airlines Flight to Miami. The choir will begin to arrive at LF Wade Airport at approximately 6.30 a.m. They will return next Friday.
