A 29-year-old motorcyclist who crashed his bike into a traffic light was being held in custody last night on suspicion of drunk driving.

Police said the man lost control of his vehicle just after 1.30 a.m. yesterday on Crow Lane in Paget near the junction with Corkscrew Hill.

The rider, from Warwick, was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of abrasions to his arms, legs and lower back and released.

The cycle and the traffic light were extensively damaged.
