Burglars broke into a preschool overnight and stole money raised for charity.

Police were alerted to the break-in at St George's Preschool at 8.50 a.m. on Friday. A staff member said that someone gained entry to an office and then took the cash.

A Police spokesman said: "The culprit stole a quantity of cash raised by the school, which was destined for charity. Inquiries into this incident are underway."
