Police attached to Operation Safer Streets seized items from a Marsh Folly Road home yesterday and took one man into custody. According to a Police statement, the raid was made as part of ongoing murder investigations.

A man was arrested in connection with the murder of Aquil Richardson following an early morning raid on a Pembroke home yesterday.

Police released a statement from the officer in charge of the Serious Crime Unit, Antoine Daniels, saying: "This morning Police executed a search warrant at a Marsh Folly Road, Pembroke residence.

"Officers from the Serious Crime Unit assisted by officers from Operation Safer Streets were following up active lines of inquiry regarding ongoing murder investigations.

"As a result, one man was taken into custody and is currently assisting Police with their inquiries."

Later in the day, Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, head of Operation Safer Streets, said the activity related to shootings over Christmas.

Mr. Richardson, 30, was shot dead at Camp Hill, Southampton last Boxing Day with Lavar Smith injured in the same incident.

The pair was targeted one day after another man was shot in the same area. Two men have been charged with murder and wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm in respect of the Boxing Day incident.

Chief Inspector Pedro said yesterday's raid was part of "active lines of inquiry" still being pursued in the case.

Witnesses told The Royal Gazette that the raid began around 5 a.m. yesterday and continued until late in the morning. Police were seen removing several items from the residence, including two flat-screen TVs.
