Tourist fined for cannabis

An American tourist admitted to importing the controlled drug cannabis yesterday in Magistrates' Court.

Clarke Stillwell, 46, of Florida, arrived at the LF Wade International Airport from Atlanta on November 8.

After clearing Immigration, he stood in the Customs line and it was there that a Police dog alerted officers to him.

Stillwell was escorted to an office to be searched and handed over a Havana cigar box containing three homemade cigarettes made of plantlike material. He was arrested shortly after.

The three homemade cigarettes were found on analysis to contain 0.73 grams of cannabis.

Stillwell apologised to the court and was fined $1,500.
