Trial ordered for man accused of cheque fraud

A Pembroke man denied stealing a cheque and trying to cash it when he appeared in Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
Lorenzo Stovell, of Middle Town Lane, pleaded not guilty to: dishonestly obtaining a cheque from a Bermuda Industrial Union member, in the amount of $1,017.66, with the intention of depriving the Bermuda Housing Corporation (BHC); receiving the cheque; and, using the cheque with the intention of cashing it at Butterfield Bank.
The 20-year-old was bailed in the amount of $2,000 with one surety to appear in court in March.
