O'Penny Sesame is winning entry

Last month the director of the pantomime "Ali Baba and the 14 Thieves" ran a Name the Dame Contest.

And now Carol Birch, the director of the Bermuda Music and Dramatic Society's Christmas staple, has announced a winner and a name for the once nameless dame.

Ms Birch said: "We Named the Dame — and it is O'Penny Sesame."

The name was selected from hundreds of entries and Ms Birch said BMDS had a hard time narrowing the field before finally selecting Michael Cranfield's entry.

As his prize, Mr. Cranfield will receive four free tickets to the show, a tour back stage and a photo with the cast.

The role of the dame will be played by Gavin Wilson.

"Ali Baba and the 14 Thieves" opens on December 7 and runs until December 18. For more information visit www.bmds.bm or www.boxoffice.bm or telephone 292-0848.
