Khano's Revs aim for a semi-final hat-trick

Khano Smith and the New England Revolution will look to extend their unbeaten Eastern Conference semi-final streak against the New York Red Bulls (formerly MetroStars) at Giants Stadium tomorrow.

The Revs and Bulls have previously met twice in the MLS Cup play-off semi-finals, with the former running out victorious on each occasion.

Tomorrow New England will bid to make it three wins on the trot in the first leg of the two-leg, home and away series.

The second seeded Revs — making their sixth straight appearance in the MLS Cup play-offs — host New York at Gillette Stadium, where they have yet to be beaten in the post-season, for the return leg on November 3. Under the stewardship of former Liverpool icon Steve Nicol, the 2007 Open Cup champions have appeared in five consecutive Eastern Conference Championships and three MLS Cup finals.

The Revs completed the regular season on the road last weekend with a 2-2 draw against Toronto FC that clinched second place in the Eastern Conference behind champions DC United and fourth place overall in the MLS.

The Revs drew 2-2 with New York in their final regular season fixture late last month, with tomorrow marking the fourth time these two rivals have met this season.

Local football fans can catch tomorrow night's MLS Cup semi-final action on Fox Soccer Channel (8.30 p.m. local time).
