Premier congratulates Jamaica on independence anniversary

Premier Ewart Brown congratulated Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller on 45 of years of independence.
In a letter to the Prime Minister he wrote: ""Bermuda and Jamaica have a history of people transplanted from the other's shores.
"Many Jamaicans are here working and raising their children; overwhelmingly they are positive additions to our community.
"We are grateful to accept them as our own."
Jamaica became an independent nation on August 5, 1962.
