A pair of Fairmont Southampton workers were robbed in the hotel's grounds on Wednesday night.

According to the Police, the incident occurred around 11 p.m. as the couple waited for a shuttle bus at the junction of Middle Road and Princess Drive.

"They were approached by four unknown men who had been loitering in the area. One of the suspects brandished a bladed article and demanded money from the 25-year-old Southampton man who complied.

"The same suspect then approached the 25-year-old Southampton woman and took her black wallet from her handbag before making good his escape on foot towards the Railway Trail with the three other suspects," said a spokesman.

The suspects were described as four black males dressed in dark-coloured clothing, believed to be 17 to 20 years old. The main suspect was approximately six feet tall and of medium build.

Inquiries are underway and Police have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
