Police and marine officials are investigating after a ferry crashed into the Rockaway ferry dock in Southampton last night as the J.L. Cecil Smith attempted to dock.
It happened around 5.55 p.m. and there were no injuries, a Police spokesperson said.
One passenger told The Royal Gazette: "I think the ferry is going to have a big dent in the front, it hit pretty hard.
"Luckily most people were sitting down!"
A Government spokeswoman said the vessel made "hard contact" with the dock and sustained very minor damage to a bow railing.
The Department of Marine and Ports management will conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, she said.
