Man dies in fall at rest home

A 65-year-old man died suddenly at the Sylvia Richardson Care Facility yesterday. Police were called to the St. George's elderly care home at 7.55 a.m.

A Police spokesman said: "It appears that a 65-year-old St. George's man living at the facility somehow fell from a balcony, sustaining serious head and spinal injuries.

"He was rushed to King Edward Memorial Hospital via ambulance but later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by an on call physician at 9:05 a.m. at the hospital."

The man had been a resident at the facility since June 2007.

Minister of Health, Michael Scott, offered his condolences to the family on behalf of the Government, the Ministry of Health, and the staff and clients of the Sylvia Richardson Care Facility.
