Children get on the right lines
Members of the BLING book club attended a party held especially for them yesterday at the Liberty Theatre.
The club, co-founded by the Premier's Press Secretary Glenn Jones, is an acronym for Books Lead Individuals to New Greatness. It is a commitment to youth literacy put on by Hott 107.5. Butterfield Bank is the main sponsor. Mr. Jones said 96 children were treated to the movie, "Hoot", which was based on a book given to more than 100 children at the beginning of the summer.
In addition to the children reading the book, radio personalities on Hott read excerpts over the radio. They also had trivia questions inspired by the book. Children were able to call in to answer the questions and win prizes.
At the party, Opposition Leader Michael Dunkley and Minister of the Environment, Telecommunications and E-Commerce, Nethela Butterfield congratulated the children for sticking to reading over the summer.
The children participated in a quiz and the winners won a gift certificate to Leisure Time, Liberty Theatre and the DVD of "Hoot".
