The annual rate of inflation climbed to more than five percent in January as food and power costs both showed big increases.

According to statistics released this morning by Government, the annual rate of inflation was 5.2 percent, up from 4.9 percent in December.

Food prices rose by 8.4 percent and fuel and power costs continued their rise — increasing 24.5 percent in January.
