Breaking News: CedarBridge on lockdown after gang violence
CedarBridge Academy is on lockdown after two fights in what is believed to be a gang-related bust-up which put one student in hospital with a suspected broken nose.
The Royal Gazette understands the decision was made to protect students after one student threatened to return to the school and start shooting.
This morning’s clash is thought to involve factions from St. George’s and Crawl.
Students were kept in their classrooms all morning with Police monitoring comings and goings at the Devonshire senior school.
Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said: “There were two fights that took place — one at 9.30, another one a few minutes after.
“The individual who got the worst of the altercation has been taken to hospital, there are facial injuries, maybe the likes of a broken nose.
“The perpetrator right now is with Police. There is no major panic, the environment is safe and parents don’t have to worry.
“Students are being kept in their classrooms just while Police and security deal with issues. It’s wise in a scenario like this.”
