Breaking News: Man charged with weekend road death
A British guest worker was yesterday accused in Magistrates’ Court of killing Winston (Yogi) Burrows by drink driving.
Arctic Airconditioning and Refrigeration worker Luke Armstrong, of Southampton, also faces five other charges related to the accident, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The 24-year-old was not required to enter a plea as the charges are indictable and must be heard before a Supreme Court jury.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner bailed Armstrong in the amount of $25,000 plus one surety. Armstrong was also ordered to surrender all travel documents and report to the Hamilton Police Station twice a week until his next appearance in Magistrates’ Court on April 29.
Lawyer Justin Williams and QC Saul Froomkin are representing Armstrong.
