Belco crews have restored power to all but 1,215 customers following Hurricane Igor.

The electricity company today pledged to continue its efforts to return power to as many households as possible.

As of 11.30 a.m. today, 490 homes were without electricity in the central area, 475 in the eastern part of the Island and 190 in the west.

“We caution that when we are down to the smaller jobs, just a few customers come on with the completion of each job, and each can take considerable time to complete,” a spokesperson said today. “We also want the public to know that in some cases, we have advance crews going out to do preparation work. They will be followed by line crews to complete the jobs, although they may be several hours or more behind. This applies especially to the advance crews that go out to dig holes for poles or to deliver poles.”

Today's proposed work will be in the following areas, while some crews will also work Island-wide to fix the easier jobs:

Tribe Road No. 1 Warwick

Clarkes Lane

Windy Ridge Rd

Knapton Hill

Cherry Hill Park (lots of damage so may go over into Friday)

Church Dale/Talbot Lane

Cedar Avenue

First Avenue

Floral Lane

Cobbs Hill

Pearmans Hill

Border Lane/Orchard Grove

Sofar Lane

Sofar Drive

Cove Valley and other St. David’s calls.
