Bouchard, Simmons lead way
After eight races in mainly light to moderate conditions of between six and 18 mph pocket rockets Sean Bouchard and Elijah Simmons are standing first and second in the Optimist Bank of Bermuda Nationals.
The Island pair have 13 and 17 pts respectively.
Sailing was not able to be completed yesterday after two days of competition, so two races have been scheduled for this afternoon. With forecast winds of 15-25 mph it is possible that the bigger sailors could close the gap.
With the increased wind in Sunday's final two races, Jesse Kirkland nailed two firsts to move into third ahead of Cam Pimentel and Oliver Riihilouma.
Showing great speed in all conditions, Will Hutchings is sitting sixth and is a threat.
Matthew Sinclair and Oliver Kempe are poised in seventh and eighth and
top female Eleanor Gardner in ninth.
The prizegiving will be at 5 p.m. today at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club and all Optimist sailors and coaches are invited.
