BAA stalwart Mulder dies

Just over a month after the death of Frankie Brewster, BAA are mourning the loss of another former player.

Peter Mulder, who represented BAA in the late 1940s to early ?50s as a towering centre forward, passed away last week.

He was 82.

Mulder, renowned for his aerial prowess around the box, was a member of BAA?s victorious 1956 FA Cup winning team that defeated Southampton Rangers 2-1 at the former Prospect Field in the inaugural final.

He was also an outstanding bowler for BAA?s cricket side of the 1950s.

Meanwhile, former North Village Red Devil utility player David Steede was laid to rest over the weekend.

The late footballer ? remembered with a minute?s silence prior to Village?s home clash with Dandy Town at Bernard Park on Sunday ? represented the Reds during the early 1960s.

He was 62.

?Steede played anywhere he was asked to play, from striker to centre back, ? recalled former Village and Bermuda centre back Wendell (Joe) Trott.

?He was also one of the club?s biggest and most loyal supporters,? Trott added.
