FA Cup Round-up
The lone Premier Division team in the FA Cup elimination round, St. David?s Warriors, were not about to be embarrassed by Commercial Division minnows Onions at Lord?s yesterday.
Although the visitors threatened to over-run the host by taking the game to them from the very start as play progressed Onions finally discovered that they had nether the fitness or the thrust to seriously challenge their senior opponents for the entire 90 minutes.
But the fact that Onions came out of the opening half levelled 1-1 showed how competitive they were a period which saw them actually grab a greater share of the play.
Jamel Woodley put Warriors ahead with a strike after 18 minutes only to see Darrach O?Conoghue equaliser with a scorcher after 30 minutes. The visitors were denied by some fine goalkeeping by Chris Douglas in the Warriors? goal combined with many misdirected shots _ openings occuring mostly with Phil Anderson creating chances with defence-splitting passes.
Warriors managed to gain the upper hand early once play re-started and went ahead 2-1 through Dejuan Paynter after 58 minutes and stretchded the lead further through Angelo Cannonier after 68 minutes.
With substitute Otis Minors making a huge impact in their attack Warriors were in full control and put the result out of reach with a fourth goal from Paynter after 80 minutes. Onions pulled one back after 86 minutes when Eoghan O?Dwyer netted from the penalty spot.
