Smith second at Sunfish Worlds

Malcolm Smith continued his surge up the leaderboard at sailing's Sunfish World Championships in Houston yesterday.

Seventh at the start of the day after fourth and 15th place finishes Smith clearly had the bit between his teeth.

The two time world champion came in fifth in the opening race at the Houston Yacht Club yesterday and followed that up with an even better second.

Those results combined with the results of his rivals were enough to push him up to second overall.

The leader is Eduardo Gonzalez of Venezuela, but Smith is just three points adrift.

Today is a rest day with two more races tomorrow and a further two on Friday.
