Hurricane ko's Police boxing card
Hurricane Fabian has perpetrated another sporting casualty.
This time the international black tie boxing card, organised by Bermuda Police Boxing Section and scheduled for Saturday, September 27, has had to be postponed until at least the new year.
The evening, which was to have had 14 fights, including boxers from Bermuda, Colorado and Massachusetts, and which had already pre-sold 75 percent of available tickets, was called off after it emerged that the venue, the Fairmont Southampton Princess, would still be recovering from the extensive damage it sustained during Friday's storm.
The hotel facilities are now fully booked until January, 2004, and the Boxing Section will be in contact with the overseas participants in the near future to discover whether a rearranged date is a viable alternative.
Inspector Craig Morfitt can be contacted at 299-4343 by those who have already purchased tickets so that refunds can be arranged.
