Goater gunning for the Baggies

Red-hot striker Shaun Goater will have a new partner up front today when Manchester City look to build on their excellent start to the season at West Bromwich Albion.

Goater is the First Division's leading goalscorer and he will be looking to add to his six goals when City travel to the Baggies.

A one match suspension for Paulo Wanchope, means City manager Kevin Keegan will have to fill the void alongside the Bermudian with either Paul Dickov, Darren Huckerby or French signing Alioune Toure.

"It is a straightforward fight,'' said Keegan. "Shaun Goater is on fire at the moment and it is a case of who partners him."

Meanwhile, Kyle Lightbourne will once again aim to open his goalscoring account for Macclesfield Town when they travel to managerless Halifax.

Boss Gil Prescott said: "We've got to tighten up defensively but if we show the same spirit we did last week we can start to show our true form."
