Somerset celebrate league/cup double
Somerset CC wound up with two titles this season after capturing the First Division Knockout championship by the toss of a coin yesterday.
Winners of the First Division title a few weeks ago, the West Enders had their Knockout final against Leg Trappers at Southampton Oval rained out after Trappers had scored 194.
When the downpour prevented any further play, umpires Roger Dill and Wilbur Pitcher reverted to the toss of a coin to determine the outcome ? Trappers skipper Luke O?Connor calling wrongly and leaving Somerset skipper Devon Wade and his players to celebrate.
With O?Connor stroking 59 and Gary Knight 39, the two openers had put Trappers in what seemed a comfortable position as they posted 119 before being separated. But rain then washed out any chance of Somerset making a challenge in reply.
Shane Hollis was the top bowler for Somerset with two wickets for 32 runs off 10 overs while David Gibbs had two for 36 off 10 overs with two maidens.
