Khano Smith played 19 minutes of New England?s 2-0 defeat to the Colorado Rapids last night.

Smith, who has scored two goals in 16 games for the Major League Soccer side in his rookie year, replaced defender Daniel Hernandez in the 71st minute at Invesco Field.

But the Rapids, who drafted fellow Bermudian Kevin Richards last year before waiving him this summer, went ahead in the 77th minute through Cameroonian Alain Nkong.

To make matters worse, Jean Philippe Peguero scored a penalty after the Revs had keeper Matt Reis sent off in the 84th minute for serious foul play.

The Revs, who signed Smith from Dandy Town after he scored against them for Bermuda, remain atop the Eastern Conference standings with nine regular season matches left.

Last Wednesday, Smith scored a 30-yard scorcher to help seal a 4-1 victory over Real Salt Lake ? a goal that was nominated for MLSgoal of the week.
