Americas in early trouble

Stephen Outerbridge

The Rest of the Americas' (ROA) torture in the West Indies Under-19 Challenge continued yesterday when they began their first three-day fixture.

Starting the Group B match a day late because of rain on Tuesday, the ROA team, including several Bermudians, were reeling on 27 for six at lunch against Jamaica. Krishmar Santokie had snapped up four for 17 by that stage.

Last Saturday, the ROA, captained by Bermudian Stephen Outerbridge, lost their final clash of the limited-overs segment of the tournament against the Leeward Islands. The match was to decide seventh and eighth place overall.

Winning the toss and batting first, the Leewards scored a massive 298 off 49.3 overs, to which the ROA could only reply with 133 (Outerbridge 34) off 35.2 overs, losing by 165 runs.
