Kyme moves into semis
In Men's A quarterfinal action in the Fast Forward Freight National Squash Championship last night No1 seed Nick Kyme effortlessly disposed of Norman Furtado 3-0 without dropping a point.
Kyme's fluid and effortless display made his recent jump in the US rankings understandable.
For all his efforts Furtado got to serve only six times in the match.
The second quarterfinal between Tommy Sherratt and Ryan Bell was an evenly contested match, which hinged on a crucial third game.
Bell came out fiercely taking the first game 9-5 and winning the second in one hand 9-0.
The third game was more evenly contested with Sherratt eventually serving out for a 10-8 win.
This was the turning point of the match. From here on Bell struggled to make an impression on Sherratt and although he contested the final two games he was never really in the fray with Sherratt running out the last two games 9-3, 9-1.
The third quarter final saw Nick Wiffen take on Harry MacKenzie, Wiffen winning 9-7, 9-3, 9-4.
The last quarterfinal proceeded much according to form with both Mel Caines and No2 seed Chase Toogood initially taking turns to swap points. Toogood ran out the first game 9-4 but the second was a 9-1 romp.
In the third game it was more of the same. Toogood served at 2-2 and won the next seven rallies to claim the game 9-2 and the match 3-0.
