Pool players compete for cash jackpot
As many as 100 players will converge on BAA Gym today, cues in hand, ready to compete for a $1,000 top prize.
Bermuda International Pool League (BIPL) are hosting the Camel 9-Ball Open on six tables in a tournament which will act as a fundraiser to send a dozen of the Island?s top players to Las Vegas in May.
The top 12 players from the BIPL season will take part as two teams,in the event in Nevada which is the largest pool tournament in the world, expected to attract as many as 600 players.
The annual excursion to Las Vegas is in part funded by tonight?s event, which begins at 6 p.m., with a best-of-five knockout competition. The final, with $1,000 as top prize, will be a best-of-nine affair.
Entry is $20 and the tournament is open to any player over 18.
