Trott picks up the pace at Port Royal
Frankie Rabain?s home course knowledge and Andrew Trott?s hunger for the fight have stretched the 15-man field at the half-way mark of the International Fixed Odds BPGA Championships at Port Royal.
A superb 74, the day?s lowest round, by Tucker?s Point pro Trott helped him to a two-shot lead over veteran Rabain who fell back with a six-over-par 77 in blustery conditions.
Two days of being the only ones to notch up sub-80 scores have pulled the front two a massive nine shots clear of the remainder of the field with Belmont Hill?s Brian Morris leading the chasing pack after shooting an 81.
Quinton Burch (86) and Richard Knights (84) struggled to cope with the tough conditions and will need to be setting course records if they are to earn their pro ?cards? by breaking 300 over the four rounds ? they are on 168 and 169 respectively.
The championships continue at Port Royal this morning.
