The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club thumped Sandys Boat Club 9-2 at Malabar Field on Sunday in a soccer match between the two sailing organisations.

Despite the scoreline, the man of the match was the Sandys goalkeeper, who as well as some fine shot-stopping, also denied RBYC from the penalty spot.

The game was relatively incident-free with referee Tim Patton showing the yellow card to two RBYC players and cautioning Sandys captain Peter Bromby for dissent.

It is planned the event will become an annual cup match.

Future proposed inter-club events include a cricket game to be played in the summer and team racing in J-24s.
