And now, the good news

Between blackouts, droughts and murder convictions, it would have been easy to forget that there was some good news last week.

New York City firefighter Jack Ginley, who survived the September 11 terrorist attacks, had the badge stolen while he was on vacation in Bermuda.

His wallet, a credit card and other items were stolen, but the only thing he wanted back was the badge.

Of course, this story had the potential to be just one more ?bad news? story last week. But good policing and a strong community response apparently enabled the badge to be recovered from the waters of North Shore in Devonshire where it had apparently been dumped.

Mr. Ginley was predictably thrilled and the community should be too. What had the potential to be another negative about the Island turned into a positive. May many more stories turn out this way.
