Defence lawyer Richard Hector faced one-word answers from a former female constable who has accused her superior of sexual assault in Magistrates' Court last week.

The defendant is alleged to have sexually assaulted the complainant multiple times between June 12 and November 30 last year - in her home, in his home and while on duty.

The complainant told Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves last Thursday, that she did not come forward earlier “because complaints of this nature from other Police women, (to) my knowledge, nothing ever came about”.

Mr. Hector established that the complainant dealt with sexual assault cases in her line of work and had a working knowledge of “what one should do as a woman being attacked”.

The complainant agreed that the pair did several activities together including watching the Tall Ships 2000 event and going for runs on their lunch hours.

She alleges that on several occasions, her superior acted inappropriately and tried to have sexual intercourse with her once. She said the accused wanted to be her “sugar daddy” and said he would leave his wife for her.

The trial resumed on Monday, but was adjourned until January 2, 2002.
