An 80-year-old woman who suffered head injuries after her car hit a wall and flipped onto its roof on North Shore Road in Smiths on Thursday afternoon has been released from hospital.

The Pembroke woman was driving a Nissan March hatchback car when it collided with a wall near Store Hill around 4.35 p.m. She was wearing a seat belt and a safety airbag deployed to offer some protection to the driver during the crash.

The woman was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment before being released. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
