Arrest after attempted robbery

A 28-year-old Devonshire man was arrested near the Buckaroo Too restaurant in Hamilton after attempting a robbery during the early hours of Friday morning.

The incident took place outside MR Onions, on Par-la-Ville Road. The complainant informed Police that he was attempting to leave the area, on his bike, at about 4.00 a.m. yesterday morning when the culprit came up to him on foot.

He said the man then demanded money, acted threateningly and snatched his wallet when he took it out to give the man some cash.

There was a brief struggle, during which the victim was not only able to recover his wallet but also dash inside the restaurant for help.

After another confrontation, the would-be robber took off on foot. Based on a description of the culprit Police, who arrived at the scene shortly after, arrested him outside Buckaroo Too.

The victim, suffering from a cut to his hand, had to seek treatment at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
