The Filipino crew member who was seriously injured while at sea, was airlifted to medical facilities abroad on Thursday night, The Royal Gazette can reveal.

Cristino Buray was rescued off of St. David's on December 10, from the tanker Alam Belia after he suffered a bleeding ulcer.

And it was during the rescue attempt, that United States airman Sgt. Doug Eccleston, was killed when his inflatable raft capsized as it was being lowered from the tanker.

In the days following his evacuation, Mr. Buray was in the intensive care unit, but later moved and said to be in stable condition.

However, following his airlift abroad, King Edward VII Memorial Hospital personnel would not comment on why Mr. Buray was sent overseas.

An investigation into the death of Sgt. Eccleston is said to be continuing.
