Opposition Shadow Home Affairs Minister Maxwell Burgess said Telecommunications Minister Renee Webb should be fired if it is proved she had signed a letter granting a licence to TV firm Hardell after denying doing so.

He produced a letter dated April, 2000 which spoke about proposed regulations for the licence.

But earlier this week Ms Webb claimed Government had no record of Hardell having a licence for offering new TV channels.

In the House yesterday Mr. Burgess said the letter should be taken to Police Headquarters to verify she signed it and if she had she should be fired.

He said he had given the Minister the benefit of the doubt earlier because a file might have been mislaid but the letter with Ms Webb?s signature made the issue much more clear cut.

?You are causing this country to be set up of a potential multi-million dollar lawsuit.?

He said Government was playing games but could end up paying out cash desperately needed for paying prison officers and other social problems.

Government have already issued a licence to World on Wireless.
