A 35-year-old man pleaded not guilty in Magistrates' Court yesterday to having unlawful carnal knowledge with a girl under the age of 16.

The alleged incident occurred between December 1 and December 31, 2000 and during February and March, 2001.

He faces trial on January 26.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also charged with causing the same girl grievous bodily harm and unlawfully wounding her on November 19. The matter is indictable and the Cedar Avenue, Smith's man did not enter a plea. Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves released the man on $2,500 bail with a surety to appear for trial on January 7.
