A 42-year-old man appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday charged with having sex with a woman without disclosing that he suffered from HIV.

The Harrington Sound, Smith's man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with nine counts of having sexual intercourse with the woman between October 23 and November 5 while knowingly having the virus that leads to AIDS.

The matter is indictable and Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves remanded the man in custody until December 17.
