A teenager was given correctional training after he breached his probation less than three hours after appearing in Juvenile Court on drugs and firearms charges.

The youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, breached his probation when he was caught with marijuana at 5.15 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon ? just a few hours after receiving two years probation for a drug offence.

The teen was searched by Police after being spotted on South Shore Road, Southampton.

The search revealed a package of what Police believed to be marijuana, but the matter is pending.

Acting Juvenile Court Magistrate Arlene Brock sentenced the Warwick youth to correctional training, which could carry a sentence of up to two years, depending on his behaviour.

On Wednesday afternoon, the teenager had pleaded guilty to being in possession of marijuana and was given two years probation, with a curfew of 6.30 p.m. He was also to submit to random urine testing.

The teen also pleaded guilty to importing an air pistol on February 14, of this year.

He will be sentenced for the firearms offence on January 6.
