Opposition Leader in the Senate Kim Swan once again called for the establishment of a Tourism Authority yesterday.

Sen. Swan also told the second meeting of the new Upper House that he was concerned about the ?exodus? of Tourism Directors and called for a coherent Government plan to save the ailing industry.

?The Government has admitted that tourism is in crisis,? he said.

?But we have to go further than that and take on board that we have a Government running tourism in the absence of any real plan.

?We have seen the exodus of yet another Director of Tourism (Judith Hall Bean), so we are looking for a fourth now in five years of PLP Government.

?The Minister (Renee Webb) is well-known to be muddling and meddling to the extent where it is difficult to run that department.

?We need to see a Tourism Authority established to embrace the captains and leaders in that industry and let them play a role to strengthening the industry in the face of well-known problems and stronger competition.?

But Government Senate Leader Michael Scott said in response: ?We have not been left in the dust. The Government keeps its shoulder to the wheel with the energetic Tourism Minister. The battle is one in which we are fully engaged.?
