Monday night's New York flight was delayed by several hours because of a clogged toilet, passengers told

"All we knew was that a toilet was stopped up," one woman on American Airlines flight 1444 Monday night said.

Though the crew worked for about two hours to unclog the toilet, she said, they eventually gave up and simply blocked it off.

"We got on the plane around 10-ish," she said ? around the time the flight usually arrives in Bermuda. The flight finally landed in Bermuda around 11.30 p.m.

Passengers were frustrated, she said, but less at the delay than at the updates from flight personnel.

"They would come out and say it would be ten minutes, then they would come out again and say it would be another ten minutes, and then another ten minutes," she said. "Everyone was kind of like, just fix it and tell us once it's fixed."

Frustration was kept to a minimum by the knowledge that it was merely the toilet that was stopped, she said ? the flight, at least, would go on.
