An American visitor who lost her purse in a taxi cab last Friday is imploring the driver or anyone who may have found it to come forward.

And in a desperate plea to The Royal Gazette, Arkansas resident Cheryl Anderson said she is prepared to offer a reward to anyone that returns the handbag in tact.

Ms Anderson explained that she and four others were in a cab travelling from Front Street in Hamilton to Stonington Beach Hotel around 5 p.m. last Friday, when she realised that she left her purse in the taxi after getting out.

Ms Anderson said the cab was a three seated van, with brown inner trimming. And her purse was black with a shoulder strap.

According to Ms Anderson, the handbag had valuable papers inside that cannot be replaced and she hoped that the driver of the cab - a black male wearing a navy blue windbreaker - would come forward to assist.

"Someone should be able to remember the four of us," she said.

"We have really strong Southern accents and we were going to Stonington Hotel precisely at 5 p.m."

Up until now, she said that Police have not been able to make any headway in the investigation and she asked that anyone who may have information can call 1-501-676-3450.
