'An outstanding chairman'
Tributes have been paid to the work done by Dr. Froncioni during his five years as chairman of the Road Safety Council.
Minister of Tourism and Transport, Dr. Ewart Brown, said: “He has been an outstanding chairman and we are indebted to him for many of the progressive ideas that he brought to the table.”
He added that a “good long hard look” would be taken at the idea of limited permission licensing espoused by Dr. Froncioni and said there is a strong possibility of this initiative being introduced in future.
“I agree with him that there is a mountain of work to be done but we know the size of the mountain and have enough ideas on the table and are beginning to have an impact,” he said.
Police spokesman Dwayne Caines, who has worked alongside Dr. Froncioni on the Road Safety Council, said: “He has been doing some fantastic work, and has been forward-thinking and persuasive. Many of the major road traffic changes in Bermuda in the last five years have come as a result of his work.”
