Police are questioning five Pembroke men about a serious assault of a 46-year-old man Monday night. The first, a 19 year old, was arrested yesterday morning.

The four others, arrested later yesterday, are aged 19, 23, 23, and 25.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said: "We are still looking for anyone that might have seen something untoward in the area of Glebe Road and Orchard Grove.

"We are looking for any individuals with information about the assault on this man between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday."

The victim, a Pembroke resident originally from Dominica remained in critical condition at King Edward Memorial Hospital's Intensive Care Unit with serious head injuries.

He was found around 7 p.m. Monday night on the corner of Glebe Road and Orchard Grove and was initially believed to have been involved in an accident.

But once at the hospital, doctors called Police after determining that he had been brutally attacked. Police launched an immediate investigation and yesterday issued another appeal for any witnesses to contact Chief Inspector Stuart Crockwell at the Serious Crimes Unit on 299-4326 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 1-800-623-8477.
