Despite striking all last week in a bid for higher pay the Bermuda Union of Teachers is in no hurry to get around the table for talks.

They are due to enter into binding arbitration after the dispute was referred by Labour Minister Terry Lister.

Asked if the union had named its representative BUT general secretary Mike Charles said: "We are concentrating on getting our conference ready so we have not looked at it.

"It's of paramount importance this yearly conference on Thursday and Friday, we're getting workshops ready.

"The arbitration will have to wait a while."

He said he hadn't contacted Government, nor had Government contacted the teachers' union.

Mr. Lister could not be reached for comment.
