Children at the Clara Mohammed primary school are hoping a fundraising drive will get them new playground equipment at their Cedar Avenue base.

Currently children are forced to play at Pembroke Park until the school raises the $6,000 to $7,000 for new facilities to replace decaying wood equipment.

Teacher Tracey Sharrieff said she hoped to get the funds ready by February.

"We are doing lunches to raise the money but we are nowhere near that figure now."
