The prisoner who escaped from the Prison Farm two weeks ago was sentenced to a further six months in jail by Acting Senior Magistrate Carlisle Greaves.

Andre Tucker, 20, was sentenced to a 12-month stay at Westgate on March 24 of this year, however he was later moved to the Prison Farm.

He escaped from the Prison Farm on October 6 and managed to elude Police for three days before being recaptured. At the time he told officers: "Yeah, well, I was going to give myself up today anyway."

Tucker apologised to Mr. Greaves for his escape, saying: "I was going through hard times."

"What is the maximum sentence for this?" Mr. Greaves asked.

On hearing that it was six months in jail, a fine of $600 or both, Mr. Greaves told Tucker his sentence would be extended.

"In my view six months is not even sufficient but that is what the law says," he said, ordering Tucker to six months jail time to be served consecutive to his current sentence.

"Tell the others," Mr. Greaves said as Tucker was led from the courtroom. "See you in March," Tucker replied.
