An announcement of who will represent the Progressive Labour Party (PLP) in the Pembroke East Central by-election could be made as early as today, said party spokesman Glenn Blakeney.

"That announcement is imminent within the next 24 hours," Mr. Blakeney told The Royal Gazette last night.

The PLP is expected to name either VSB reporter Ashfield DeVent or Senator Calvin Smith, who beat out three other party members earlier this month in the first round of candidate selection for the November 26 election.

The Pembroke East Central seat was left vacant after Tourism Minister succumbed to cancer in September.
