Businesswoman Teresa Cameron said yesterday that Bank of N.T. Butterfield had made a "big mistake" when it issued a writ against her.

Mrs. Cameron, the founder of failed online directory company talkingmice.com., told The Royal Gazette yesterday the bank had apologised to her for the alleged mistake.

The bank could not be contacted yesterday for confirmation, but on Wednesday it said it did not comment on cases before the courts.

Mrs. Cameron said yesterday: "It's a big mistake. They (the bank) said it was nothing to do with me and apologised. I am going to see them on Monday."

The writ was filed by the bank on October 17.

Mrs. Cameron has just launched a new round-the-clock information service called mBermuda.

Her former company, talkingmice.com, collapsed in 2001 with the loss of 15 jobs - 11 in the United Kingdom and four in Bermuda.

Mrs. Cameron blamed the failure on investors pulling the plug too early.

She was the main shareholder, although others were PricewaterhouseCoopers, Globenet, Marshall and Company, TeleBermuda International, and other local investors.
